"How do I clean my hot tub?"

Flush, Power Down, & Drain

Add a jet line or plumbing flush product (BioGuard System Flush) to the existing water and run the jets on high for 15-30 minutes to clear out the hidden biofilm and gunk. Turn off the main circuit breaker. You can then proceed with draining by attaching a garden hose to the drain valve or use a submersible sump pump. Use a wet/dry shop vacuum to remove any puddles and debris from the footwell and seats. 

Clean the Shell & Filters

Wipe down the shell using BioGuard Off The Wall or a specialized non-abrasive hot tub cleaner. Scrub the waterline ring where body oils and scum collect, then rinse the entire interior surface thoroughly with clean water. Remove the filter cartridges, spray them down with a hoze nozzle, apply filter cleaner and allow it to sit overnight before rinsing again. We suggest having a second set of cartridges on standby to continue your spa cleaning process. 

Refill & Balance the Water

Place your garden hose directly into the central filter compartment instead of the open footwell to push trapped air out of the plumbing lines. Fill your spa, turn your main power breaker back on. Apply your routine fresh fill round of chemicals (if you are unsure of what this process looks like, please consult one of our experts), allow the water to heat up and circulate for 24 hours before bringing a sample into Industrial Motors.
